Fun Things Around Town

Out here in the wild wild heat, there are a ton of fun things to do. Here's a look into the last few weeks and how we take HOT, hard, HOT, stressful, and HOT days and still manage to have some fun moments.

Giant milky fruit smoothies at the open market. These things are my favorite.
Selfies in daddy's hats. These boys make me swoon.

Stirring boiling elephant poo to turn into elephant poo paper.
This really needs no caption.

And then, finishing the elephant poo paper process.

There's bowling.  That may have ended with a certain 7 year old weeping because she only scored like a 27, but, every one else was all smiles. And there was AC. WOOT!

We explored an insect farm. I didn't even know that was a thing, and I certainly didn't think it would be all that interesting. Turns out, I was wrong.

Kate is a bug lover. She held every bug they would let her hold except for the giant 10 inch long centipede and the scorpion. Who can really blame her on that one?!

We learned about all of the edible insects of SE Asia. Yum.  Notice I said learned, not tasted.

We found the ice skating rink and enjoyed a floor made of ice in an air-conditioned room. YES!

Kate represented our beloved Macedonia at her school's international day. She was so excited.

Golf with a new friend, our neighbor. He's a sweetie and he and Thomas share a love for the game.

More selfies

Our family out on the course with some new friends.

Swimming!!!  It's the best!

And when you're stuck inside all morning because it's already 95 degrees at 8 'o clock in the morning, why not color your face.  This was not a mommy-approved activity, but I couldn't get too mad. I mean, that face!

There have most definitely been some hard days. I have been every ugly version of myself the last 2 months, and I have had to fight to be any kind of fun or even nice. But God... I am so thankful for the sweet, fun, exciting moments when He has whispered or even shouted, "I love you!" as he has lavished life and breath and every necessary thing on us. He has lavished grace on us. He has reminded me of how very much I need Him, of how very worthless and crappy and dead I am without Him. He has reminded me that He has made me alive and that He is my life.

He has carried us through every single day. He even gave me a little boy with purple lips and a red face to remind me to laugh a little more and stress a little less. And I am reminded as I look through all of these pictures and so many more (that I didn't post for fear of boring you) that He is good in every moment, good or bad, even when it's 110 degrees. Even then...
I'm so thankful to be His!
