Ohrid Marathon

Yes, there is a 30 Km (19 mile) swimming marathon called the
Ohrid Marathon in the clear blue waters of lake Ohrid. Since 1998, the Ohrid Marathon has been one of the 12 worldwide marathons held by FINA - The World Swimming Association. They start at one end of the lake at Sv. Naum and swim to Ohrid. The event takes all day and is definitely a spectical. This year it was amazing because after 5 hours and 33 minutes of swimming, it came down to a PHOTO finish!!!! Here are the results. Two people swam neck and neck for 19 miles and Petar Stoychev from Bulgaria won by 7/10ths of a second!!!!! I was fortunate to have a great spot and my camera for the end of the event. Here is a picture of the two swimmers approaching the finish line
